Cancer is considered as the most dangerous health issue prevailing in the world for millions of years and today it has been spread all over the world. It directs many lives in to death without considering age or sex. In year 2022, 20 million of new cancer patients were identified globally. It has estimated that there may be 28 million of new cancer case will be detected in 2024.
Breast, lungs, bowel, and prostate cancer are most common cancer types and it has become an undefeatable threat to human being although the world has gone far long in science and technology.
A Russian scientific team has taken step to produce a vaccine against cancer as an innovation and the mode of action of this vaccine is the strengthening of the immune system of the human to face cancer cells. If is believed that this vaccine will help to save billions of lives and the people can keep new hopes against cancer.
The international research agency for cancer, which consists of 115 countries, has launched the results of their survey done in last few years and it has been revealed that 1/5 of cancer patients die and 1/9 of male cancer patients and 1/12 of female patients dies. Therefore the cancer can be considered as the main cause for death globally.
About 2.5 million people are suffering from lung cancer and it is the most prevailing cancer type. Secondly the breast cancer and about 2.3 patients are suffering by this. 3rd most prevailing type is prostate cancer and fourthly about 0.97 million people are suffering from stomach cancer. It has been observed that air pollution, artificial foods and diabetes are some of the causes for cancer and irregular life styles. 58% of deaths due to cancers have been reported from Asian countries and Russia is also considered as a country attached to Asia.
In Sri Lanka, the main root causes for cancers has identified as food pattern, narcotic and irregular life styles. Mouth cancers are very much abundant in Sri Lanka and lung cancers become second to it.
In this context, above vaccine invented by the Russia is very important and valuable and it can bring new hopes to patients and vulnerable people. This new vaccine will be launched at the beginning of year 2025 and several research institutes in Russia have started to multiply this vaccine in large scale now.
Genetic fragments from cancer tissues are used to make this vaccine and because of that, the vaccine can effectively produce antibodies against the cancer. The Genetic code used for messaging is mRNA and it can produce specific protein which is accepted by the human body and produce antibodies against Cancer. On the other hand this vaccine has an ability to activate according to the patient’s condition.
One dose of this vaccine cost about Ruble 300 000.00 and it is similar to Rs. 700 000.00. So, subsidies or some methodologies for giving the vaccine free should be proposed in developing countries.
